A Flintshire councillor disqualified from office for two and a half years has had his term reduced after winning an appeal against a tribunal ruling.

It originally ruled Mostyn councillor Patrick Heesom breached the council's code of conduct following bullying and harassment claims which he had denied.

Cardiff's Administrative Court confirmed the original sanction imposed by the tribunal has been quashed.

The decision comes after a four-day appeal case at the High Court.

A reduced disqualification period of 18 months has now been imposed.

It is to run from 19,July 2013.

The tribunal made its decision last year in relation to several allegations about his conduct between 2007 and 2009.

Mr Heesom, 76, was first elected an independent councillor for Mostyn in 1996.
