Man arrested over Flintshire firearm incident

A 63-year-old man has been arrested in Flintshire after a gun was fired in a nearby rural area, say police.

North Wales Police launched a hunt after the firearm was discharged between the villages of Higher Kinnerton and Hope just after midnight.

The man was eventually arrested in nearby Mold on Monday afternoon.

The search involved officers from north Wales and the neighbouring Cheshire Constabulary.

Ch Insp Jeff Moses of North Wales Police said: "A 63-year-old man, local to the area, has today been arrested in relation to the incident.

"Police can confirm that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and therefore the public are not at risk."

He said the man was currently being questioned by detectives from Mold CID.
