The family of a grandfather killed after he collided with a lorry have described him as their "best friend".

Alan Blackburn Watson, 65, from Denbigh, died in hospital following a collision on the A5 at Maerdy, Denbighshire, on Monday.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident involving Mr Watson's motorcycle and an Iveco Tipper lorry shortly before 14:00 BST.

A family tribute said he was "respected and loved by all who knew him".

It added: "Alan Blackburn Watson was a loving husband of 40 years, to Maureen, and a loving father to Greg, Damian and Pippa.

"We will all miss him terribly and his loyalty to us all as a family.

"He was respected and loved by all who knew him.

"He was not only a husband, dad and granddad, but most of all our best friend."
