Woman seriously ill after bungalow fire in Chirk

Fire damage on Lodge Valley Park, Chirk Damage could be seen on the outside of the property

A 65-year-old woman is seriously ill after suffering smoke inhalation in a house fire in Wrexham county.

Firefighters rescued the woman from a bungalow on Lodge Valley Park, Chirk, at 01:35 BST on Wednesday.

North Wales Fire Service said the woman was treated at the scene and taken to hospital, where her condition was described as serious.

Fire investigators will return to the scene on Wednesday to try and determine the cause.

Three fire appliances from Llangollen, Chirk and Wrexham attended the incident. Six sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the blaze.

A dog rescued from the property is also in a serious condition and the RSPCA is being consulted.
