Deeside break-in cuts power to 3,000 homes

A power cut affecting 3,000 homes in Deeside overnight was caused by thieves during an attempted break-in, it has emerged.

North Wales Police say the offenders cut through a power cable in Dock Road, Connah's Quay, Flintshire, causing an hour-long cut in supply on Sunday at about 19:40 BST.

Insp Ceri Hawes said the culprits will probably have received flash burns.

She is appealing for witnesses to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
