Wrexham pub assault leaves man in critical condition

The Fairfield Tavern, Wrexham Police say there were "many people" in the area at the time of the incident

A man is in a critical condition after being assaulted outside a pub in Wrexham.

The man, in his 40s, suffered serious head injuries when he was knocked to the ground in the attack outside the Fairfield Tavern pub on Saturday.

He was taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital but transferred to the Walton Hospital in Liverpool.

North Wales Police believe many people would have witnessed the assault and appealed for them to come forward.

The attack happened at around 18:30 GMT at the junction of Erddig Road and Wellington Road.

Det Ins Martin Davies said: "This was a nasty incident which has left a man in hospital with critical head injuries.

"We know there were many people in the area of the pub at the time of the disturbance."

North Wales Police said anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
