Police say between 60 and 70 officers are now involved in the search for a teenager missing since a works Christmas party.

Haydn Evans, 18, from Mold, Flintshire, has not been seen since he left the Carden Park Hotel near Chester at about 01:00 GMT on Saturday.

An underwater search team and local search and rescue volunteers are also involved.

Mr Evans' "devastated" family has appealed for his safe return.

The construction worker's stepsister Jade Conway sent him a message: "We are all so worried about you and need to know you are safe."

Cheshire Police has said it was extremely concerned for the missing teenager.

The force said search teams were scouring the Broxton area close to the A41 Chester-Whitchurch road after an anonymous caller told them they had seen a young man matching Mr Evans' description walking along the road at about 01:00GMT last Saturday.

A police helicopter and dog team has taken part in the search.

Check outbuildings

When last seen Mr Evans was not wearing a coat or jacket, and may have become disorientated with the extreme cold and unfamiliar surroundings, said police.

Officers have asked anyone with outbuildings in the area to check them in case Mr Evans sought shelter.

On Tuesday Ms Conway issued a direct plea to him to get in touch, saying: "Haydn, we are all devastated about your disappearance.

"If you are listening to this, or have seen the appeal for you, please contact us."

Mr Evans is about 5ft 9in (1.76m) and slim, with short brown hair and blue eyes, and was last seen wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt and trousers.

Anyone who travelled on the A41 Whitchurch road or A534 Wrexham road and may have seen him is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101.

The hotel is east of Wrexham and south of Chester off the A534, near Clutton.
