A schoolgirl who became trapped between giant rocks while playing hide and seek on a beach has thanked her RNLI rescuers.

Eira, nine, became stuck among sea defence boulders at Aberaeron, Ceredigion, last Thursday.

Lifeboat crewman Tom Evans, 17, who was on his first call-out, jumped into the water to cut her wellies to free her.

Boat mechanic Ben Billingham said: "It was certainly one of the more unusual incidents we have attended."

The rescue also involved coastguards, police, paramedics and fire crews as well as the New Quay-based RNLI crew.
