A report on the future of health services in mid Wales will be completed by the end of September.

Health Minister Mark Drakeford announced the timetable as part of the formal start of the study on Monday.

He decided to commission an independently-led piece of research into the future shape of health provision in the region in December.

The independent study will be carried out by the Welsh Institute for Health and Social Care.

Mr Drakeford said the study would "provide clarity and a firm foundation upon which to develop a strengthened approach to the joint planning of health services in this area."
