Casey Breese goalpost death: Caersws FC deny safety charge
A football club has denied a health and safety breach after a 12-year-old boy died when a metal goalpost fell on him.
Twelve members of Caersws FC's committee appeared at Mold Crown Court charged with failing to discharge a duty under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
Casey Breese was playing with friends on Caersws recreation ground, Powys when the incident happened in 2011.
The case was adjourned for a seven-day trial starting on 22 July.
The court heard the club has been charged with failing to ensure safety or take all reasonable steps to ensure a freestanding goal post provided for use at the club was safe and without risk of injury.
The case is being brought by Powys County Council.
