Police put Powys parents to seatbelt test
Parents at a Powys primary school have been tackled over wearing seatbelts and ensuring children are in safe seats.
Police and council teams targeted parents of Ysgol Dolafon in Llanwrtyd Wells after concerns were raised.
Individuals were offered advice before the safety teams returned a later to see if the message was being heeded.
Police said the issue had improved - with just one parent fined for not wearing a seatbelt. More spot checks are planned in the future.
"By not wearing a seatbelt, vehicle users are putting their own lives at risk as well as that of other passengers in the vehicle," warned police community support officer Lee Whittaker of Dyfed-Powys Police.
Officers have warned that they plan to return to the school to check on parents again in the near future, and intend visiting other schools in the area in the coming months.
