Talgarth school land deal agreed 'in principle'
Plans for a new school in Powys have moved a step closer after a council reached an agreement with a landowner over the proposed site.
Powys Council wants to build a new primary school in Talgarth near Brecon, replacing existing schools in Talgarth and nearby Bronllys.
It has reached an "in principle" agreement with the landowner.
The council, which has been reviewing school provision in the county, said the new primary could open in 2015.
A council spokesman said: "The council has reached an agreement in principle with a landowner to develop a new school on land at Hay Road, Talgarth."
The authority also plans new primary schools in Hay-on-Wye and Newtown. The Welsh-medium school in Newtown could replace the existing Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd.
