Machynlleth water supply restored but mains repair continues
Part of a Powys town left without water after a mains burst has had its supply restored.
Ysgol Bro Ddyfi in Machnylleth was forced to close on Thursday and many residents phoned to complain that they had no water.
Severn Trent apologised and said on Friday that supplies had been restored by tankers pumping water directly into water pipes.
The firm said it was still working to repair the burst main.
A company spokeswoman said: "We'd like to apologise to customers in Machynlleth whose water supply has been disrupted.
"Water has now been brought in from other areas via our network of pipes and by tankers, and supplies have been restored.
"Customers' water supply was affected because one of our water mains burst on Wednesday evening."
She said teams had been working round the clock to repair the water pipe and to maintain supplies.
"While we are fixing the pipe, tankers will continue to supply water to customers, so people will see a lot of activity going on. We apologise for any disruption this may cause," she added.
