Fire at BSW Sawmills, Newbridge-on-Wye, Powys

Fire fighters have tackled a blaze at a sawmill in Powys.

They were called to a blaze in the external cladding of a 89m (291ft) long building at BSW Sawmills in Newbridge-on-Wye at 09:30 GMT on Sunday.

The fire was brought under control after an operation that lasted around two hours. Fire officers remained at the scene damping down.

Mid and West Wales Fire Service say the cause is currently unknown. No one was injured.

An aerial platform from Llandrindod Wells and a water bowser from Builth Wells were brought in to support two other fire crews.

Two water jets were used along with the aerial platform and hand tools.

Four of the fire officers wore breathing apparatus and used thermal imaging equipment to trace the seat of the fire.
