A stretch of the A487 road near Aberaeron, Ceredigion, will need to be repaired after a coach fire.

There were no passengers on the 52-seater vehicle but the road was closed on Monday morning between Aberaeron and Ffos y Ffin, with diversions in place for larger vehicles.

Traffic lights have been put in place and will remain while the road is repaired "over the next few days".

The bus was removed from the area on Monday.

Local diversions were in place on Monday for smaller vehicles, but larger ones were having to use B roads from Synod Inn.

A Welsh government spokesperson said on Monday: "Following inspection of the road after removing the coach earlier today it has become evident that there is a need for repair work to be carried out on the surface.

"We hope that this work can be carried out over the next few days.

"In the meantime the traffic signals will remain in place until the work is completed."
