Two students were rescued by coastguards and lifeboat crews after being cut off by the tide at Aberystwyth.
They were taken to hospital with suspected hypothermia after the call-out at 18:46 GMT on Friday.
Two coastguard rescue crews and lifeboats from Borth and Aberystwyth helped take them to safety after a member of the public raised the alarm.
It is understood they had been walking on the beach beneath Constitution Hill.
