It is not the sort of vehicle you would associate with police chases, but a tractor is the latest mode of transport in one force's fleet.

The tractor, complete with flashing blue lights, was given a makeover to turn it into a marked vehicle by Dyfed Powys Police force to use this summer.

They hope it will encourage public engagement at agricultural events.

It has been at the Royal Welsh Show and will also appear at the Pembrokeshire County Show among others.

But the tractor will not be taking to the streets carrying out patrols any time soon as it is on loan and will be handed back later in the year.

Inspector Tim Davies of Pembrokeshire division said: "We are hoping it'll encourage people to come and have a look and to then speak to us at events over the summer.

"Engagement with our rural communities is important to us, and we want people to come and discuss any concerns they may have about rural crime."
