Gwent Police appeal after man glassed in face in Newport

A search has been launched for a man who smashed a bottle into the face of an 18-year-old during an early-hours attack in Newport city centre.

Police say the victim was walking with a group of friends near the old Sainsbury's between 04:00-04:15 BST on Sunday.

They were heading towards McDonald's when a slim man in his 20s with mousey or fair short hair approached.

The victim suffered several cuts but has been released from hospital.

Gwent Police are appealing for anyone with information about the attack to call 101.

They say the man they are looking for was wearing a white t-shirt or polo shirt possibly with red writing or a design on the front and blue jeans.
