Funerals in Llanidloes of A44 tanker crash couple

The funerals of a husband and wife who were killed in a crash involving a tanker on the A44 near Aberystwyth last month have taken place.

John Kehoe, 72, and Margaret, 65, from Llanidloes, died along with relations Martin Pugh and Alison Hind.

The private funerals were at Our Lady and Saint Richard Gwyn Church in Llanidloes on Thursday morning.

Mr and Mrs Kehoe were described as having been devoted to each other and their family.

"Their passing is a great loss to us all and our pain has been increased so much by having them both taken from us at the same time and in such tragic circumstances," said a family statement.

The collision between the Ford Focus and tanker happened around 15 miles (24km) from Aberystwyth, near Eisteddfa Gurig, between the villages of Llangurig in Powys and Ponterwyd in Ceredigion.

Ms Hind's 18-month-old daughter Holly survived the crash.

The funerals of Ms Hind and her uncle Mr Pugh are taking place on Friday in Llanidloes.

An inquest into the deaths has been opened and adjourned by Powys coroner Andrew Barkley.
