Swansea Uni in binge drink reduction pilot scheme

28 May 2014 Last updated at 10:17 BST

Swansea University is one of seven universities taking part in a pilot scheme to tackle binge drinking.

Alcohol-based initiation ceremonies and pub crawls on university premises could be targeted and limits placed on the promotion and advertising and promotion of alcohol.

Student unions and university management will have to work together to gain accreditation under the new scheme.

Becky Grimes, Swansea's welfare officer, spoke to Radio Wales about the aim of the scheme.
