Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has appointed a new chief fire officer.
Chris Davies, who was the brigade's assistant chief, takes over from Richard Smith who announced his retirement at the end of March.
The appointment was made at an extraordinary meeting of Mid and West Wales Fire Authority.
Mr Davies said he was "extremely delighted" and was looking forward to working with fire service staff.
Fire authority chairman, Councillor Roy Llewellyn, said: "We are confident that we have the right person in post as we enter the new five-year planning cycle and we look forward to working with our new chief fire officer."
