Warnings that high air pollution levels could spread to Wales on Wednesday have been scaled down.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) had said readings could reach eight or nine on its 10-point scale.

This was down to a combination of local emissions and dust blown over from the Sahara desert, it said.

But Defra said the risk for Wales was now moderate.

People with lung and heart problems in areas with high pollution have been advised to avoid exercise, until it passes on Friday.
