Carmarthenshire sports clubs urge council to rethink pitch fees

Sports clubs using council pitches in Carmarthenshire are hoping for a change of heart over what they claim are plans to impose "crippling" pitch charges.

Carmarthenshire council will meet on Friday to finalise council tax plans for the next financial year.

It had planned to charge clubs five times more in the next few years in a bid to cover their shortfall.

A motion has been put forward asking for charges to be frozen and talks to be held.

Roger Perry, chairman of Tumble RFC, told Mai Davies of BBC Radio Wales their bill for pitch fees could rise from £49 a game to £235.
