Cardiff heart op boy's family leaked Bristol hospital report

13 December 2013 Last updated at 20:42 GMT

The family of a seven-year-old boy from Cardiff who died after heart surgery at Bristol Children's hospital have been sent a report which claims poor care may have contributed to his death.

Last month a coroner ruled Luke Jenkins's death was neither predictable nor preventable.

Three reports were considered at the inquest but the family's solicitor says a fourth report - prepared in June - should also have been disclosed.

It questions the thoroughness of the more positive third report.

The hospital said in a statement that the report had not been submitted because the coroner wasn't looking specifically into the trust's investigation of Luke's death.

It said it had submitted all relevant documents to the inquest and independent experts had been called.

Matthew Hill reports.
