The husband of an elderly woman who died after a car collided with them at Ponthir in Torfaen has now died, say police.

Denis Drew, 86, was left in a critical condition in hospital in Newport after the incident a week ago,

His wife Joyce, also 86, who was walking with him, died after the collision.

A local woman, 20, arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving has been bail.

Police said the crash happened close to the village hall on the B4236 Caerleon Road at about 19:30 GMT last Wednesday.

The vehicle involved was a small blue hatchback car.

Gwent Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident on 13 November.
