Firefighters tackle large tyre blaze in Pentyrch near Cardiff

Tyre fire Motorists travelling on the M4 and A470 spotted the smoke and raised the alarm

Firefighters are tackling a large tyre blaze on farmland near Cardiff.

It is estimated some 20 tonnes of tyres are on fire at Pentyrch, and thick black smoke can be seen from the surrounding area.

South Wales Fire and Rescue has sent two engines, from Whitchurch and Ely, and a special appliance from Caerphilly.

The fire service said many people travelling on the M4 and A470 had raised the alarm.
