2 October 2013 Last updated at 13:03 BST

A neighbour tried to save an elderly woman whose body was found following a blaze at a sheltered housing complex.

The fire started in a ground floor flat at Glyn Padarn, Llanbadarn Fawr in Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, just before 20:30 BST on Tuesday.

The woman, who was also elderly and did not want to be named, said the dead woman was in her 70s and was in bed when the fire started.

An investigation is under way into the cause by police and the fire service.

Twenty seven residents, some who were confined to bed or disabled, were evacuated to safety.

The majority of them have since returned to the home.

Ceredigion council leader Ellen ap Gwynn and Councillor Paul James talk about the response.
