Driver arrested after pedestrian death in Cefn Hengoed crash

A 29-year-old man has been arrested after a teenage pedestrian was killed in a collision with the car he was driving.

Gwent Police said an 18-year-old man was declared dead at hospital following the incident in Cefn Hengoed in Caerphilly county.

The driver, a local man, was held on suspicion of death by dangerous driving after the collision at around 12:55 BST on Saturday.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw a black BMW Compact car in or around the area of Hengoed Crescent on Saturday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gwent Police on 101 and quote log number 263 28/9/13.

The family of the man who died, who is from Cefn Hengoed, are being supported by specialist officers, Gwent Police said
