HIV positive Simon Morris Jones abused three boys
A man who sexually abused three boys when he knew he was HIV positive, has been jailed for 10 years at Caernarfon Crown Court.
Simon Morris Jones, 36, of north west Wales, admitted 15 charges including rape, sexual touching and engaging in sexual activity with a child.
Judge Keith Thomas said it was a "very serious aggravating feature" that the defendant knew his HIV status.
Jones will stay on the sex offenders' register for life, the court heard.
In addition, Jones will be on licence for four years, making his a 14-year extended sentence.
Matthew Dunford, prosecuting, said Jones's victims had been tested for HIV but to date all had been negative.
Sion ap Mihangel, defending, said the defendant had felt genuine remorse and shame.
He was receiving counselling in prison and was struggling to come to terms with bullying and abuse he had suffered as a child.
Judge Thomas said Jones's victims had since endured a nightmare almost losing their confidence in humankind.
Det Sgt Richard Griffith of North Wales Police praised the victims and their families who he said had the courage and resolve to stand up to the perpetrator.
"It is important to reassure all sections of the community that North Wales Police will provide the appropriate specialist support to assist victims through every stage of the process," said Det Sgt Griffiths.
"North Wales Police take matters of this nature very seriously and so it is reassuring to see this reflected in the sentence."
