A crash between a lorry and a car has caused severe disruption on the A55 in Flintshire, one of the main commuter routes across north Wales.

Police said a grey Nissan Almera collided with a blue Scania lorry in a layby on the westbound carriageway at around 16:15 BST.

The incident happened between junction 32 and 33 at Northop Hall.

One lane was closed as emergency services attended. Police were advising motorists to take alternative routes.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the North Wales Police roads policing team on 101.
