Rebecca Riots musical opens

5 August 2013 Last updated at 09:40 BST

A musical set during the Rebecca Riots in south Wales has opened in Cardiff.

The riots happened in 1843 when tolls were placed on roads essential to farmers.

Many people protested because harvests were poor and the cost of basic food items like corn had rocketed.

BBC Wales' Joanna Humphreys went along for a preview.
