Police investigate after train hits tractor near Welshpool

An investigation has started after a train hit a tractor on a level crossing near Welshpool, Powys.

British Transport Police said there were more than 100 people on board the Birmingham to Aberystwyth train but only two passengers and the tractor driver suffered minor injuries.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of endangering safety after the incident near Buttington Crossing at 11:49 BST.

Supt Andy Morgan said it was "very fortunate" that more people had not been hurt.
