North Wales children's homes abuse: Second man arrested

A 62-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault as part of an investigation into historical child abuse in north Wales care homes.

He was arrested in Leicester in relation to allegations of assaults on three boys aged 12 to 14 years old between 1969 and 1984.

The arrest was part of Operation Pallial, the independent investigation set up in November last year to examine the abuse allegations.

This is the operation's second arrest.

The first was a man from Suffolk on 23 April who has been bailed until the end of July.

Speaking after the second arrest, a spokesperson for the Serious Organised Crime Agency said: "The 62-year-old man will be taken to a police station in Leicestershire, where he will be interviewed."

Detectives from Operation Pallial are looking into 140 allegations relating to 18 care homes between 1963 and 1992.
