Motorcyclist killed on second Severn Crossing was Raymond Jenkins, 72

A motorcyclist who died in a crash on the second Severn Crossing has been named by Gwent Police.

Raymond Jenkins, 72, was from Maesycwmmer, Caerphilly county.

The crash closed the M4 eastbound for six hours on Friday evening, while accident investigators were at the scene. Traffic was diverted along the old Severn Bridge.

Mr Jenkins was declared dead at the scene at around 17:50 BST.

Gwent Police said it wanted to thank motorists who were in the area at the time for their patience while emergency services were in attendance.
