Canolfan Cywain: Close £2m venue 'no regular income'

Help

A rural heritage centre in Gwynedd has closed less than five years after it opened.

Canolfan Cywain in Bala cost £2m of public money to build was supposed to create jobs and be a centre for arts and the community.

But an investigation by BBC Wales has found that the assets of the centre have now been handed over to a private estate which owns the land on which it was built.

Peter Johnson spoke to Simon Mundy, chairman of the Wales European Arts Forum, an informal network of arts and cultural organisations in Wales.

He asked him if Bala was right place for this kind of public investment.
