Mortgage scheme to help struggling home buyers

Help

Details have been unveiled of a government-backed mortgage guarantee scheme to help first-time buyers and those wanting a bigger home.

The three-and-a-half year scheme will be rolled out from next spring.

It will be available to all buyers in areas of "housing pressure" and to all first-time buyers on up to 3,000 new homes up to the value of £250,000.

Business correspondent Nick Servini told Jamie Owen what the scheme entailed.
