The Welsh National Field of Remembrance at Cardiff Castle has been officially opened in a ceremony attended by First Minister Carwyn Jones.

It is one of six Royal British Legion fields of remembrance across the UK and has more than 15,000 crosses.

The Last Post was played before a two-minute silence.

The crosses have been placed within the grounds, paying tribute to the men and women who have served in the armed forces.

John Farmer, UK national chairman of the Royal British Legion, spoke about the significance of the event.
