Dieback fears halt ash tree planting in Wales

A leading forestry expert has confirmed that plans to plant thousands of ash trees in Wales have been brought to an immediate halt by controls intended to stop the spread of the fungus Chalara fraxinea.

The fungus has already been found in tree stocks in a number of nurseries throughout the UK and in the wild in East Anglia.

Radio Wales' Gilbert John has been following Welsh efforts to control the disease and spoke to a forestry expert in woodland near Llandovery.
