New railway carriage for Snowdon Mountain Railway

Help

The first of four new carriages has arrived at the Snowdon Mountain Railway station in Llanberis.

The carriage travelled to Gwynedd on the back of a lorry after being manufactured in Derbyshire from material used for heavy goods vehicles.

The current carriages have been in use since 1923.

The new stock has been partly funded by the Welsh government and will increase the capacity from 56 people per carriage to 74.
