There is a new face on the podium for the BBC National Orchestra of Wales on Friday night.

Thomas Sondergard will give his first concert as principal conductor at Cardiff's St David's Hall at the start of a four year term at the orchestra.

Sondergard, from Denmark, is best known for his interpretations of Scandinavian and contemporary repertoire and has previously been a guest conductor in Wales.
