Five more people have been charged in connection with the naming on social media of a woman who was raped by Wales footballer Ched Evans.

They have been bailed to appear before Prestatyn Magistrates' Court in November.

The former Sheffield United striker was jailed for five years earlier this year for raping the 19-year-old.

The number of defendants now charged in connection to the naming now stands at nine.

The five now charged are Shaun Littler, 22, from Sheffield; Hollie Price, 25, from Prestatyn; Gemma Thomas, 18, from Rhyl; Paul Devine, 26, from Sheffield; and Daniel Cardwell, 25, from Sheffield.

Jim Brisbane, chief crown prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service Cymru-Wales, said they had been charged with publishing a matter likely to lead members of the public to identify the complainant in a rape case.

"All five have been charged by North Wales Police and bailed to appear before Prestatyn Magistrates' Court on the 5th November," he said.

"Reviews in respect of further suspects under investigation by North Wales Police are continuing."
