Police have appealed for information about a blue, left-hand drive, Land Rover Discovery belonging to Mark Bridger - the 46-year-old charged with the murder of April. Officers said the vehicle was recovered from a repair garage in the Old Station Road area of the town.

8 October: 'New phase' for search

Police say the search is entering 'another phase' but will continue with more than 100 specialist officers. Mountain rescue teams have been stood down and the search is concentrated on Machynlleth, the River Dyfi and its estuary.

  1. 1 Oct 19:00 BST: April goes missing

    Five-year-old April Jones is seen getting into a van or a four-wheel drive vehicle while playing with friends near her home on the Bryn-y-Gog estate in Machynlleth, Powys.

  2. 2 Oct 15:30 BST: Local man arrested

    Volunteers join police, dog handlers and mountain rescue teams in the search for April after she is reported missing. Mark Bridger, 46, is arrested walking on a road near Machynlleth.

  3. 8 Oct 16:00 BST: Murder charge

    Mark Bridger appears in court charged with April's murder, child abduction and perverting the course of justice. Specialist police teams continue their search for April.
