Car hit man as he moved horses

A lorry driver who had got out of his vehicle to help usher stray horses off a road has been taken to hospital suffering serious head injuries after he was hit by a car.

It happened at 00:40 BST on Sunday morning on the A465 between Hirwaun roundabout and Glynneath, south Wales.

South Wales Police said a blue Ford Focus car was travelling west when it hit the 50-year-old lorry driver.

He was taken to the Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
