Family concern at jail death inquest of Shaun Beasley

An inquest has opened into the death of a prisoner found hanged in his cell.

Shaun Beasley, 29, from Surrey, died in Parc Prison in Bridgend nearly two years ago.

His family, from Epsom, say he had a history of self-harm and are critical of the healthcare system at the privately-run jail.

The prison authorities said he was monitored and gave no indication he intended to harm himself.

Nick Palit was at the hearing at Aberdare coroner's court, which is expected to last five days.
