Tom Maynard death: Tributes paid to Surrey batsman

Tributes have been paid to cricketer Tom Maynard, who has died after being hit by a London Underground train.

The 23-year-old son of former England and Glamorgan batsman Matthew Maynard was one of the brightest prospects in English cricket.

The incident happened in Wimbledon during the early hours of Monday morning. It is understood the player, from Cardiff, may have been trying to run away from the police when he died.

The police watchdog the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is to consider investigating.
