A campaign has been launched to save one of the three remaining army regiments with strong links to Wales.

Sources in the Queen's Dragoon Guards, also known as the Welsh Cavalry, fear they they will be merged with another regiment, and up to 500 soldiers sacked.

The Queen's Dragoon Guards recruit all their guards from Wales and the borders.

Ministers say no final decision has been taken.
