TV presenter Gethin Jones is to join ITV1 breakfast show Daybreak.

Jones, 33, from Cardiff, will be the programme's features reporter and is set to start work on Monday 21 May.

The ex-Blue Peter presenter will share the sofa with fellow Welshman and BBC Wales presenter Aled Jones, 41, who is the show's new co-host.

Jones is "delighted" to be joining the programme which has undergone a major shake-up following disappointing ratings.

The show replaced GMTV in September 2010 with Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley presenting.

But after disappointing ratings for the programme, the pair left in December last year, with Dan Lobb and Kate Garraway presenting on an interim basis.

Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones were unveiled as the new presenters earlier this month and the pair will team up on the sofa "later this year".
