Dog rescued from ravine at Pontypool but goat left behind

Firefighters were called to rescue a dog and goat 80ft (24m) down a ravine in south Wales.

The crew, using line rescue equipment, took two hours to bring the poodle to safety at Pantygasseg near Woodland Farm, Pontypool, Torfaen.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service say the goat was left to find its own way back following the call-out on Tuesday at about 19:50 GMT.

The dog was later returned to its owner.
