London 2012: Rowing medallist Tom Lucy in Afghanistan

Help

With a year to go until the 2012 London Olympics open with a women's football match in Cardiff, BBC Wales Today has been catching up with Welsh medal winners from the last games in Beijing.

Tom Lucy helped Great Britain's eight-man rowing crew pick up a silver medal four years ago but has since left the rowing world behind.

Lucy, who learnt to row at Monmouth school, is now on his first tour of Afghanistan serving with the Royal Marines in Helmand Province.

Ashleigh Crowter reports.
