Hay Festival debates Wikileaks accused Bradley Manning

A year ago a US Soldier called Bradley Manning was arrested in Iraq on suspicion of having passed restricted material to the website Wikileaks.

He was first detained in a military jail in Kuwait, and then transferred to a maximum security facility in Virginia, where he was held in solitary confinement until April.

He has been moved again, this time to a base in Kansas, where conditions are said to be better.

His treatment has attracted attention all over the world, not least here in Wales where he was brought up - and where family members still live.

Today his case is discussed by campaigners, lawyers and politicians at the Hay Festival, and it has even inspired a play, as Margaret Keenan discovered.
